Jarrow Formulas Green Tea
Green tea has been traditionally used for its beneficial effects. Green tea is made from a plant called Camellia sinensis, after its leaves are somewhat oxidized and fermented. If we leave the leaves of green tea ferment for a long time, we get black tea.
It does not only matter what kind of green tea you take, as it also important where and how it was grown. The content of active ingredients (catechins) affect many factors, including altitude, time and the process of harvesting and drying.
Green tea originated from China, where it has been used by Traditional Chinese Medicine (TKM). It also has a very strong tradition in Japan.
The main polyphenols in green tea are ECGC (epigallocatechins), Epicatechin gallate, other epicatehins and flavnols, have strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Additional flavonoids contained in green tea are kaempferol, Quercetin and myricetin.
