Jarrow Formulas PQQ (Pyrroloquinoline quinine)
PQQ (also Methoxatin) is a small molecule for which it was initially thought to be a vitamin, which, however, was later revealed as wrong. It has a strong ability for REDOX reactions, i.e. picking up electrons from oxygen, reducing oxidative stress. After use, glutathione can recycle it to its original active state. It is one of the more stable molecules, as it can perform thousands of such cycles in the body before being broken.
In nature, PQQ occurs in Kiwis and human breast milk.
It’s a relatively new molecule, since it was discovered in 1979. In 2003 they wanted to add it among vitamins, which in 2005 was disproved.
